"Joan of Arc, or rather Jehanne la Pucelle, allegedly burnt in Rouen in 1431, found herself before a different court in Paris nine years later.
In May 1436, Jehanne la Pucelle reappeared near Metz and was recognised by the Arc brothers, Pierre and Jehan, and several notables who had attended the coronation of Charles VII in Reims or had fought with her in the army. This was followed by correspondence with the king and several of his close friends who had known Jehanne well in 1429-1430. In the summer of 1439, Jehanne was received and celebrated for several days in Orléans, the city she had liberated from the English ten years earlier. In accordance with many rumours circulating at the time, Joan of Arc was not burnt in Rouen. In Paris, in 1440, she found herself facing a new tribunal, which she had apparently chosen to confront.
For what reasons? What was the outcome?
This play will be performed by Laurent Péan, Margot Châron and Tomas Reyes, with vocal contributions from Jacques Gouin.
"The play will be followed by a talk by authors Thierry Dehayes and Caroline Dehayes, on the book La Fabrique de Jehanne d'Arc (Atlande éditions). With indisputable archive evidence to back it up, you'll understand why Kathryn and her kind didn't burn "La Pucelle"! "
