A place of remembrance to remember.

On 12 January 2023, a delegation of student-officers from the "Combat de Pontlieue" class paid tribute to the gendarmerie regiment which, on 12 January 1871 at the height of the Franco-Prussian war, defended the town of Le Mans from its attackers.
Their act of bravery was saluted and thanked at the commemoration of the "Combat de Pontlieue" monument in the presence of Stéphane Le Foll, Mayor of Le Mans, and Emmanuel Aubry, Prefect of Sarthe.

105 gendarmes lost their lives for France. "They fought like lions and died like heroes".
