Discover the history of this former foundry. The Chappée building, which houses the Le Mans municipal archives, has just been listed as a Historic Monument.

The head office of the Chappée foundry, located at 102 rue Gambetta, occupied this Art Nouveau building built in 1909 by architects Grigné père et fils and contractors Pérol and Sadrin.

Located in an area of 20th-century middle-class buildings, the façade of this vast building still features beautiful ceramic decorations and period stained-glass windows.

The Chappée building now houses the municipal and community archives, as well as works on regional history and heritage.

The clock from the Chappée family offices can still be seen in the consultation room.
