To liven up the garden adjoining his home, Fernand Chatelain, a retired farmer with no artistic training whatsoever, set about creating a series of sculptures in polychrome cement and recycled materials. This atypical work is now recognised as an exemplary example of art brut. The recently restored sculptures are on display in the very places where they were created. In Chatelain's studio, documentation on Art Brut and sculptures in their original state help visitors to understand this frankly humorous work.
Open Sundays and public holidays from 2.30pm to 6pm from Whitsun until the European Heritage Days (September).
The rest of the year, by prior arrangement, for groups only (subject to availability).
