The village of St Léonard des Bois is at the heart of the Alpes Mancelles conservation area, which is marked by a sudden escarpment. Its two mountains, Haut Fourché and Narbonne, rise to 217m and 203m respectively, providing natural vantage points for outdoor activities.
The hermit Saint Léonard: it was in the 6th century that this very pious recluse decided to settle in these unwelcoming lands and build his cell and oratory in honour of St Peter. A renowned evangelist, he attracted many pilgrims and founded the monastery of Vandoeuvre.
