Maison Drans is the oldest traditional biscuit factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, and has been in business for 90 years! We only use raw, natural and French ingredients (PDO butter, free-range eggs, etc.). We make shortbread, Croq'Amours (hazelnut meringues), almond tuiles and savoury crackers.
The Drans family, pastry-makers from father to son, settled in Sablé-sur-Sarthe in 1932 and perfected the recipe for sablé as we know it today. A veritable symbol of the town, the "Sablé Drans" has survived the 20th century alongside the people of Sablé-sur-Sarthe.
The family story continues, with Alexandra and Antoine Pelletier taking over Maison Drans on 1 November 2018.
What makes Maison Drans unique? Making our biscuits by hand with 100% raw and natural ingredients: we use PDO butter from the Charentes region, Label Rouge free-range eggs from Loué, flour from the Centre region and sugar from Hauts de France. There are no flavourings or preservatives in our biscuits. Lemon zest, hazelnut slivers, raspberry coulis, toffee bits, chocolate chips... all great ingredients to make our delicious biscuits.
We still make our biscuits by hand in our workshop in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Come and taste our iconic biscuits in shop!
