Walking - Level: Easy
Départ : MONT-SAINT-JEAN

This 3.5 km circuit offers a number of viewpoints over the Orthe valley in Mayenne.

Originally, the Courtavel mill was part of a fiefdom belonging to the Courtarver family (in the archives, this name is written in various ways: Courtavelt, Courtalvert, Courtavel). Their home was in the middle of a private wood, opposite the mill. Today, few traces of this castle remain, having been abandoned very early on. In 1390, Foulques 1st de Courtavel married Jeanne de la Lucazières, and it was no doubt as a result of this alliance that the family moved to the Lucazière site.

On this route, you will enjoy the many viewpoints over the Orthe valley in Mayenne and the entrance to the Sarthe via the Courtavel cluse.

Leave your vehicle parked after the small bridge on the chemin de la ferme de la Buglère. Follow the yellow markings which will take you back to your vehicle along a narrow path.

Dogs must be kept on a lead.
