"Passing on the memory of the skills of yesteryear in our countryside" is the idea of Régis GANNIER, the collection's donor. He describes this idea in his book "La mémoire des gestes", published in 2012.
A number of films give a better understanding of what it was like to work in the countryside in days gone by: milking in the fields, old-fashioned threshing, the Percheron horse, tying a wheel and the use of rye.
Housed in a former tithe barn dating from the late 16th century, this eco-museum is run by volunteers from the PATRIMOINE DU VAIRAIS association, who have also restored and converted the premises.
It is set in an exceptional natural and architectural environment, with the "Verno Vici" nature reserve, behind a church whose origins date back to the end of the 11th century, a 19th-century presbytery and a 17th-century bread oven.
