Paul Rogers, who has lived in the Sarthe region for 20 years, is a major figure in European improvised music.
Following his meeting with luthier Antoine Leducq, he commissioned the creation of an instrument inspired by the ancient viola da gamba: a 7-string double bass with 14 sympathetic strings. As a soloist, this unique instrument allows him to offer a wider range of sounds. His improvisations take us into an imaginary folklore, with the sole aim of making his instrument resonate and playing the impossible.
