The Sainte-Cécile chapel stands on a promontory sixty-three metres above the Loir valley.
It is still consecrated, and in the 18th century the church received three altarpieces, which have been listed as Historic Monuments since 1989.
An exceptional and very old ninety-three metre long shrubbery surrounds the chapel and the two former cemeteries, one to the north marked by an oak cross and the children's necropolis to the south.
The Friends of Sainte-Cécile, an association under the law of 1901, works in partnership with the commune to promote cultural activities and to help restore the chapel.
Work was carried out on the entire building between January 2009 and April 2010, under the direction of the Head Architect of Monuments Historiques, Madame Marie Suzanne de Ponthaud.
On her advice, four stained glass windows on the theme of music were created by visual artist Sylviane Monthulé, in collaboration with the workshop of glass artist Éric Boucher in Durtal (http://www.chapellesaintececile-flee.net/articles.php?lng=fr&pg=293).
The interior restoration of the 14th and 15th century wall frescoes is due to be completed by the end of June 2025. It will focus on the remains of the 12th and 15th century paintings and the two mourning beds with coats of arms. Three new stained glass windows have been created for the oculus above the main door and the two Romanesque windows on the north facade, which have now been reopened. All of this work, which also involves masonry, joinery and lighting, is being supervised by Léo Cany-Paris, heritage architect. A conference on the restoration is scheduled for 20 September 2025 at 3pm, during the JEDP.
Every year, between June and September, the association organises concerts on Sundays at 5pm, followed by a friendly drink.
It opens the doors of the chapel on European Heritage Days and organises cultural events and exhibitions.
Guided tours for groups can be organised on request and by appointment.
