Built in 1640 at the request of René de Baigneux, Château de Courcival is a perfect example of a French-style château. It comprises a rectangular dwelling flanked by two round towers and a pavilion. A wing, gardens and outbuildings were added in the 19th century.
Inside the château (private), there is a late 18th-early 19th-century bathroom and an old kitchen (not visible).
Only the exterior can be visited free of charge during the summer. You will discover a magnificent park offering superb views of the château and the lower courtyard surrounded by a moat with its terrace.
The moat, built in the 19th century for decorative purposes only, also offers a picture-postcard view, particularly when reflected in the moat.
As you stroll through the grounds, you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the setting while imagining the life of the ancestors of the castle's owners.
Not to be missed nearby: the church of St Brice, which offers a panoramic view of the neighbouring countryside from the top of its promontory, the beef route and the workshop of Françoise Auvray, ceramic potter.
