HISTORIC CENTER OF LA FERTÉ BERNARD

A medieval and Renaissance town with timber-framed houses, courtyards and passageways, La Ferté-Bernard boasts a rich and remarkably well-preserved heritage. The majestic Notre-Dame des Marais church, the Saint-Julien town gate and the old covered market are just a few examples. To discover the historic centre, the booklet "Laissez-vous conter La Ferté-Bernard" is available from the tourist office. In high season, you can also take a ride on the little tourist train to discover the different facets of the town. Built between two arms of the Huisne, La Ferté-Bernard is nicknamed the "Venice of the West". Water is everywhere, and legend has it that there are 365 bridges and footbridges. Come aboard the electric boats for a bucolic ride (only in season).
