Formerly a royal college founded in 1603 by Henri IV, it became the Prytanée militaire in 1808 and today prepares students for the baccalauréat and entrance examinations for the grandes écoles.
The historical, cultural and family tour of this heritage site, with commentary alternating between Jean-Claude Ménard, former head of public relations at the Prytanée, and Laurent Waquet, former student and history and geography teacher at the school, takes visitors on a tour of : the French garden, the zoological collection room, the VIP and generals' rooms, the Austerlitz and Sebastopol courtyards, the Saint-Louis church and its Baroque décor, and the Pierre Guillaumat area, which features instruments from a Second Empire physics cabinet.
