Painting with light
Born in Manceau, Bernard Reignier discovered photography during his secondary studies with a passionate amateur. Since 2006, following a chance encounter in the gardens of Giverny, he has dedicated his practice to the representation of movement and seeks to bring life to his photographs.
When he shoots, he mimics the painter's gestures and imbues the camera with movement. As it moves, the sensor exploits the luminosity of the form, creating an infinite number of images superimposed and interwoven, which our eye is able to read again, restoring the initial dynamics. The real and the unreal merge. It is no longer a question of showing or demonstrating, but of encouraging us to dream.
"I try to rediscover the painter's gestures by using my camera like a paintbrush. When the picture is taken, it's the movement of the camera that gives the image a bit of life and dynamism, and the impression of a painter's work with real brushstrokes. It's not reality, but a snapshot taken from reality. Everyone can see what they want in them, because they are made to dream".
