72600 MAMERS

Art exhibition by photographer Irène Doria

"All things considered...
Irene Doria doesn't photograph a subject head-on; she captures it through the diversions of her aqueous reflection, quivering with a vibrato that is always perceptible. Landscapes, ethereal silhouettes, lakeside houses and liquefied abstractions exude from her amniotic waters, ending up before our eyes in poetic visions that invite the viewer to daydream. Irene Doria contrasts the obvious reality of an image with its evocative reverse. Eternal ephemerality, forever reversed in a tenuous fragility that the artist has managed to capture by triumphing over the vagaries of chance. In a harshly materialistic world, she opens a window onto a sensitive, unstable universe where, by the simple grace of a fleeting reflection, she cushions the brutality of our environment. The eloquence of the unspeakable in the face of stubborn, prosaic everyday life. Her creativity invites us to 'mirror' the world around us, exploring an elusive reality that her shots have nevertheless captured in their relative truth.

While painters have used photography to produce some of their works, Irène Doria reverses the process, giving us a new pictoriality in her photos, whether figurative or abstract with her aquatic anamorphoses, where the only key is our own gaze.
