Join us for the 42nd European Heritage Days, a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover the Royal Abbey of Épau!

Dive into history during the 2025 European Heritage Days at the Abbaye Royale de l'Épau!

During this exceptional weekend of 20 and 21 September, we invite you to discover the abbey through four fascinating themed guided tours. [FREE - BOOKING REQUIRED]
- Bérengère and the Plantagenets: Step back in time to the 12th century in the footsteps of the abbey's founder and the great figures of the Plantagenet dynasty.
- Times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm

- Daily life of a Cistercian monk: For over 900 years, Cistercian monks have lived their religion far from the world. Discover the daily life of these men and women behind the walls of their abbeys.
- Times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm

- Safeguarding heritage: the example of the Royal Abbey of Épau: Using the example of the Abbey of Épau, discover how a heritage site can be safeguarded and enhanced.
- Times: 11.00am, 12.00pm, 3.00pm, 4.00pm, 5.00pm

- Art and architecture: the altarpieces of the abbey: Our region is full of remarkable altarpieces. Come and discover the secrets of these monumental sculptures through the altarpieces in the abbey.
- Times: 11.00am, 12.00pm, 3.00pm, 4.00pm, 5.00pm

- Seed swap in the permacultural garden
Come and swap seeds, share your knowledge and go home with new varieties for your garden. It's an experience not to be missed!
- Saturday & Sunday: 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm

- Special visit to the Michel d'Aillières room
The Michel d'Aillières room, which is usually closed to the public, will be exceptionally open from 2pm to 4pm throughout the weekend. This room, dedicated to departmental meetings, reveals another facet of the abbey, combining history, citizenship and modernity.
