Not content with recounting the memories of his early childhood, he depicts the working-class France of the 1970s in a text where truculence and self-mockery go hand in hand.
Long a singer with a funny streak under the name of Wally, we find him here in a completely different register: the sociological tale, but in his own way, one that elicits laughter with a touch of poetry and a heap of emotion.
It's a time of recklessness, then of realisation of a form of social predestination from which it is very difficult to escape.
