Welcomed with her solo Pode Ser last season, choreographer Leïla Ka returns to Sablé with her first group piece Maldonne. A powerful hymn to female emancipation!
Carried away by the music of Vivaldi and songs by Lara Fabian and Leonard Cohen, five dancers dressed in brightly coloured dresses stand together to reveal their fragility, their rebellion and their multiple identities. As the fabrics fly, shimmer, crack, spin, drag and fall, the bodies merge, vibrate and rise. Together, they seek to free themselves from their shackles in a frenzy of energy. Multi-awarded, internationally acclaimed and even invited to the last César ceremony, Leïla Ka has established herself as a revelation on today's dance scene. Her expressive, powerful and daring dance is a brilliant exploration of the feminine.
