Until 09 December 2025
72000 LE MANS
From 5 November to 9 December, a retrospective devoted to Patrice Chéreau will be on show at Les Cinéastes cinema.
Director, screenwriter and actor Patrice Chéreau made his first feature film at the age of thirty (La Chair de l'orchidée, 1974). Then, having become a key figure in the European performing arts, Chéreau gave Simone Signoret one of her last great roles with Judith Therpauve (1978).
The Théâtre des Amandiers school in Nanterre, which he directed, was the crucible in which part of the "troupe" that would remain loyal to him was formed. Later, his collaboration with Hervé Guibert came to fruition in L'Homme blessé (1983). It was also during this period that he began work on his famous fresco about the St Bartholomew's Day massacre, La Reine Margot (awarded the Jury Prize at Cannes in 1994). Then came Ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train (1998), and his latest works: Intimité, Son frère, Gabrielle, Persécution.
