Mamers, flagship town for the 2025 Telethon!
The Tourist Office is offering 2 guided tours of the town of Mamers on Saturday 6 December: 1 tour of the upper town (approx. 1 hour) departing from the Tourist Office at 2pm and 1 tour of the lower town (approx. 1 hour) departing from the Tourist Office at 4pm.
Admission: €3 per adult, free for under-12s.
All proceeds from the tours will be donated to the Telethon.
Upper town:
Your guide will tell you all about the Place Carnot, with its not-to-be-missed covered market, the church of Saint Nicolas, the majestic theatre, not forgetting its mysterious sinkholes. Next, explore the elegant Place de la République with its Visitation convent and adjoining prisons. The tumultuous life of Joseph Caillaux and the unusual Eiffel Tower - yes, there is an Eiffel Tower in Mamers!
Lower town:
From the weavers' houses to Notre-Dame church, via the rue de Cinq Ans, your guide will tell you all about the old quarter of Mamers, not forgetting the Dive, which may seem peaceful but can sometimes have its tantrums, as it did during the terrible floods of 1904...
