The tour starts in the Cité Plantagenêt, the historic heart of Le Mans, which covers 9 hectares and has been a protected area since 1974. Surrounded by a Roman wall dating back to the end of the third century, it is made up of around a hundred half-timbered houses. The Carré Plantagenêt, Le Mans' museum of archaeology and history, adjoins the city and tells the story of the city and its surrounding area, from prehistoric times to the 15th century. Your route will take you in the footsteps of the legendary 24-hour race. With a route length of 13.629 km in 2007, the 24-hour circuit is one of the longest in the world.
