This route takes in the villages of Lavaré, Dollon and Semur-en-Vallon. You can set off from the centre of these three villages.
These parishes grew up in the Middle Ages on soils that were often sandy or stony, making them unsuitable for agriculture before it was modernised. The villagers therefore supplemented their incomes with textile crafts and the extraction of materials. Sand, limestone and sandstone were used for building. Located away from the main lines of communication, these villages have retained their dynamism despite the rural exodus that affected them with the end of rural industries and traditional activities. As a result, these communities have managed to preserve a dynamic community life, which has encouraged the development of original events and venues such as the tourist train in Semur-en-Vallon and the museum of mechanical music in Dollon.
