Most of the forest is made up of broadleaved trees, with noble species such as oak, hornbeam, beech, aspen, chestnut, etc. mixed in with a variety of softwoods: Douglas fir, Nordmann fir, maritime pine, laricio pine, etc.
The forest as a whole is listed as a natural area of ecological interest for the variety of its flora and the diversity of its fauna, particularly its birdlife.
