Formerly owned by the Barons of Sillé, the forest (3500ha) became state property in 1925. Since the end of the 16th century, the forest has been exploited to provide the charcoal needed for metallurgy.
At the heart of the forest lies a 40-hectare lake offering a wide range of water sports. You can also go climbing at Rochebrune or Saut du Serf.
