Château de la Ruche is a wonderful little 18th-century château nestling in 7 hectares of private parkland and woodland near Le Mans in the Pays de la Loire region.
Maurice's House was originally an outbuilding of the Château. It is nestled in the heart of the park, close to the lake, the flower meadows and the Château's kitchen garden. Once the home of a colourful character called Maurice, we have carefully restored this former carriage garage into a lovely, comfortable gîte.
You will first drive up our tree-lined driveway and through the gate into your private garden to two dedicated parking spaces. Follow the garden path to the cellar with its old terracotta floor, before entering the large, fully-equipped kitchen with its rustic charm. A large antique table stands in the centre of the kitchen, decorated with period furniture and bathed in light. French windows open onto the terrace and your own private garden planted with flowers and trees.
Take the staircase upstairs to the living room, formerly the attic, a spacious, pleasant and light-filled room with cathedral ceiling, exposed oak beams and views over the lake and gardens. The living room is furnished and decorated with antiques, some of which were found at flea markets. Relax on two comfortable sofas or one of the many armchairs.
