The hamburger was born in Europe, in Hamburg to be precise, but the first McDonald's restaurant was opened in the United States by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in 1937. Their meeting with Ray Kroc, the founder of the brand, who was none other than their dairy partner, gave a new impetus to their small business.
