Discover the Verger terraces, near the Roman walls.

In March 2017, more than 20 fruit trees were planted on 4 terraces, in the presence of the various associations involved in the project, including Cours et Jardins, Croqueurs de pommes and the Sarthe Horticultural Society. The 20 varieties of apple and pear trees are ancient local species, chosen in consultation with these associations.

As part of the Region - Féder Nature contract
In partnership with the Association Entre Cours et Jardins, which initiated the project, the Société d'Horticulture de la Sarthe and the Association des croqueurs de pommes de la Sarthe, which helped choose the varieties.

2,000 m2 of five 15 m-high terraces have been laid out on the north-west side of the Plantagenêt town. Around forty pear and apple trees of old and local varieties have been planted along the retaining walls, and red berries will adorn the lower part of the orchard.

Pear tree species: Beurré superfin, Comtesse de Paris, Triomphe de Vienne, Triomphe de curé, Doyenne du comice, Duchesse d'Angoulême, Poire de Jésus, Triomphe de Jodoigne, Docteur Jules Guyot.

Apple tree species: Calville blanche, Cour pendu gris, Fenouillet gris, Reinette du Mans, Sans pareil Peasgood, Transparente de Croncels, Reinette étoilée, Astrakan blanc, Signe Tillisch, Tafetas blanc d'hiver, Jolibois, Gros locard.
